Common rejection reasons include:

  1. Missing documentation – you need to provide specific documents along with your visa application, so check what you need to submit before you submit your application
  2. Passport was not issued within the last 10 years – this is a requirement of passports, so if it has not been issued within the last 10 years, you need to get a new one before applying for your visa
  3. You already have a valid Schengen visa – bear in mind that visas are valid for a specific time, so if you have applied previously, the visa may still be valid, so check before applying
  4. No invitation letter – if you are being invited to France by a person or company, you need to provide an invitation letter

Reasons For Schengen Visa Rejections

COVID Regulations

Since February 12, 2022, the following rules apply at borders:

  1. For fully vaccinated travelers, no more tests are required on departure. Proof of a complete vaccination schedule is sufficient to arrive in France
  2. For unvaccinated travellers, the obligation to present a negative test to travel to France remains, but the measures on arrival (test, isolation) are lifted when they come from countries on the “green” list, characterized by a moderate circulation of the virus.
  3. When unvaccinated travelers come from a country on the “orange” list, they must continue to present a compelling reason justifying the need for them to come to mainland France and may still be subject to a random test on arrival. Travelers who test positive will have to isolate themselves, in accordance with the recommendations of the Health Insurance. India is on the green list currently, so this does not apply

COVID rules can change quickly, so always check the up-to-date guidance before you travel. For more information please go to website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for France.
